This happened around this time last year. I had finished my usual studies at university and was walking home from the nearest station. I don't remember the exact time, but I think it was around 10 PM. After walking through a somewhat busy shopping street, the crowds began to thin out, and that was when I noticed a strange couple walking about 10 meters ahead of me. The man looked like a modern, trendy youth, dressed quite stylishly. But the woman walking next to him, arm in arm, had a bob haircut and was wearing an out-of-date, weird dress and pumps. Thinking they were an odd couple, I kept walking toward my home. It seemed I was walking a bit faster than they were, and right before I reached my house, I had almost caught up to them. My house was located just around the corner down a side street. Right as I was about to make that turn, the woman suddenly spun around and snapped at me with the force of a comedian: "What the hell are you looking at, you scum?!"
It was so sudden that I stood there, dumbfounded and frozen. Ignoring me, she kept walking away while hurling foul language at me two or three times. At the time, I was a mix of angry and confused, and feeling quite flustered, I hurried inside my house. But as I thought about it more, I realized something was off. Looking back, even though the woman was screaming her head off right next to him, the man didn't try to stop her once, nor did he ever look back at me, just keeping up his steady pace. And another thing: how did that woman, who hadn't turned around even once until that exact moment, know that I had been looking at them? I've lived in that house for six years now, but I only saw that couple that one time. It was a bizarre experience—makes me wonder if I want to see them again or not.
