From Crayon Shin-chan Volume 39, "Plant X from Space."
One day, a meteorite collides with a UFO flying through outer space, and a bulb-like object falls down to Earth. Meanwhile, in Kasukabe, Shinnosuke is up to his usual mischief when a sudden loud noise draws him toward the backyard. There, he discovers some kind of seed buried in the ground.
Right after that, Misae punishes him for his mischief by throwing away his toys. When Shinnosuke curses under his breath, the seed sprouts as if it heard him. From then on, the plant grows rapidly, nourished by arguments and unkind words between Shinnosuke and Misae, as well as arguments between Hiroshi and Misae inside the house.
Eventually, the flower blooms, and a bizarre face emerges from it. The plant beats Shiro with its vines and ensnares Shinnosuke. Noticing the strange situation, Misae and Hiroshi try to help, but because they are out of sync, they end up tripping each other up and starting another fight. To make matters worse, the plant grows legs and becomes able to move on its own.
Realizing that their mutual hostility and insults caused this, the Nohara family awkwardly begins to respect and praise one another. At that moment, the plant rapidly weakens and finally dies. The family resolves to "show more love to each other so we never give birth to such a monster again."
Meanwhile, in a troubled nation, ethnic friction sparks riots that escalate into bloodshed. Right beside a fallen, bleeding corpse, another seed that fell from the UFO begins to sprout...
It's a short story, but the dark, typical Crayon Shin-chan ending is brilliant. Thinking about what happens next leaves a deeply unsettling aftertaste.
