Three days ago, my six-year-old daughter came home holding four crumpled 100-yen bills in her right hand. Finding it strange to see 100-yen bills these days, I asked her where she had picked them up. She replied that she was playing in a nearby vacant lot with a girl her age who lives across the street when the air right in front of them got blurry. She reached out her hand, touched something, and brought it back with her.
Right around that time, the neighbor from across the street came over to our house to say hello and told us this: her daughter M had brought home 100-yen bills, and when she asked what happened, M said there was a place where the air looked weird, so she reached out her hand and found some paper there.
To this day, I have no idea what it was. Or rather, ever since that day, I've been too disturbed to sleep.
The 100-yen bills featured Sasuke Itagaki. Three of the four bills seemed a bit old, and the serial numbers were hard to read. The remaining one was relatively clean. Its serial number was "VP726898E."
The location is an ordinary, small park in Meinohama, Nishi-ku, Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture. A truly ordinary park. My daughter plays there often, but apparently, this was her first time experiencing something like that.
I'm the one who posted about my daughter, and yesterday I remembered the worst possible thing. I hesitated to write about it, but please read on if you're curious.
When I was around my daughter's age, a close friend of mine went missing. At the time, I lived on an island in Nagasaki Prefecture called the Goto Islands. On our way back from playing by the sea with two friends, we found something strange. There was a distorted space there. But I wanted to eat dinner, so I didn't care about it, left my friend behind, and went home first.
A few days later, I learned that the friend I had been playing with was missing. We moved away soon after, so I don't know what happened after that, but hearing my daughter's story struck a chord with me.
Is this genetic? My grandfather used to say when I was little, "Our family used to do work in the service of gods."
Judging that my daughter was in danger, I immediately warned her: never go near a distorted space. I also threw away the 100-yen bills. I'm sorry to those who were curious, but I don't want to lose my daughter yet.
Finally, I'll write down the location in detail. Take the subway to the station after Meinohama, called Shimoyamato. Get off there and walk along the tracks in the direction opposite to Meinohama Station. You'll see an apartment complex. There is a park near there.
