My Grandfather Started Speaking in a Strangely Clear Voice

Come to think of it, this isn't my own experience, but a strange story I heard from a friend.

About ten years ago, my friend's grandfather was on his deathbed. As all the relatives had gathered around him, the grandfather, who hadn't been able to speak properly for a long time, suddenly started talking in an uncharacteristically clear voice.

"You, I'm sorry, but go right now to [Location] and leave some flowers there. Leave tonight." "You. There's unfinished business I left behind. Go right now to [Place] and find it. You'll probably have to stay overnight." "You, you know our dog, right? There's something wrong with it. Put it in a sturdy cage and stay with it through the night." "You, this bed is no good. Move me to a different room... to your room. And fill the bath. Please."

He gave these snappy instructions to everyone, and they all followed them just as he said. As a result, almost nobody was left in the grandfather's house.

Just before dawn, the grandfather passed away peacefully at a ripe old age. And a few hours later, the Great Hanshin Earthquake struck.

The room where the grandfather had been sleeping before being moved had its shelves completely collapse, and the room where the relatives were supposed to be sleeping was also partially wrecked. The doghouse was buried in rubble, and the house itself suffered severe damage.

Yet, there were no fatalities. It was because everyone had acted according to the grandfather's instructions. The dog was safe inside its cage, and the relatives were all away from the house. While several people apparently died in the houses on both sides, not a single person died in that specific house. The water supply was cut off, but since the bath had been filled with hot water, there were no problems.

Such is the mysterious story.
