Returning Home to Find the Girl Who Left Early Had Gone Missing (Hisaruki Related)

*Note: This is a type of scary story where the full picture emerges by reading multiple accounts.*

The Name "Hisayuki"

It's a really terrifying story, though I'm not sure if it's actually scary to others. I don't have much confidence in it, but the police were actually called because of this, so I guess it counts as genuinely unsettling.

Back when I was still a student, I went on a trip with some friends from my college club. Most of us were broke students, so we decided to stay at a cheap minshuku (traditional Japanese inn) recommended by a friend.

Right next to the inn stood an old, shed-like, house-like building. It was dilapidated, but strangely huge. Upon seeing that building, one of the girls in our group who was sensitive to the supernatural started trembling. "The second floor is dangerous," she said, "It's looking at us." Refusing to stay in such a place, she packed up and went home.

That night, after eating and setting off fireworks, we started getting bored. Someone suggested checking out the large building next door. Two of the girls refused, leaving five guys and two girls. When we actually got there, the atmosphere was quite eerie. There was a huge sliding door on the first floor. When we opened it, it wasn't really a room, but a dirt-floor storage area with farm equipment and tools scattered around. Just as we heard something shuffling and moving around in the ceiling, the guys who were outside called out, "The lights just turned on! The lights turned on!" We stepped outside for a moment, and sure enough, light was leaking from an upper window. "This is bad," "Aren't we going to get in trouble?" we whispered. Then the window opened, and a head poked out. The light was behind it, so the face looked entirely black. I was pretty terrified. Then, the owner of that head gestured for us to come up. "Hey, don't just stand around down there, come on up." His voice sounded surprisingly young. That put my mind a little at ease. Since he invited us up saying there was alcohol, we decided to go for it.

There was a staircase against the wall on the first floor leading upwards. At first, it was dark with no lights, but from the landing midway up, it was softly illuminated by light shining from above. We stepped through an open doorway into a room where a man in his thirties was sitting on the far side of a table. Food and beer were laid out on the table. The room had an exotic, almost Indian vibe to it—wooden carvings and instruments were placed around, and brightly colored Hindu gods and movie posters were plastered on the walls. It was an absurdly large room, but the lighting was surprisingly dim, and almost no light reached the corners. "Well, grab a beer," he said, offering us food and drinks, and we started drinking with the man. The man talked about his travels to India and recent music. A CD was playing quite loudly, and when one of the girls who was bothered by it asked about it, the man just said, "It's fine," and turned the volume up even higher. Glancing at the clock, I realized it was already late, so we decided to head back. The man saw us all the way to the entrance of the warehouse.

The next morning, while we were eating breakfast, the innkeeper asked us, "Did you guys go to that building last night?" When we answered yes, she persistently asked, "Did anything happen?"

On the ride back home, I asked the remaining girl, "Wasn't it pretty loud for you last night?" She replied, "Not really..." but then she said this: "At that time, I heard music playing and wondered what was going on, so I looked out the window at that building. A small light turned on below the bright window. Then, just as I thought it went out again, I heard the door on the first floor open."

Hearing this, M, one of the guys who had gone with us the night before, muttered, "No way..." and started talking. "When we went up the stairs from that warehouse, there was a landing, right? There was a door on the wall there, though it was hard to notice. At the time, I wondered what it was, but I didn't think much of it. And when we were leaving, that door was opened just a tiny crack. I thought, 'Did I see things?' but..."

"Wait... does that mean the place we were drinking at was the third floor?" I asked, starting to panic. "Then... when we first went into the first floor and heard those noises upstairs... what was that...?"

Looking back, there were so many strange things. Until we stepped into that warehouse-like first floor, the windows of what must have been the third floor were pitch black. That floor should have been just one single large room. So, what was that man doing in the dark until we arrived? And the food. It was way too much for one person to eat. But it was warm. Was he waiting for someone to come? With the lights off? Waiting for someone other than us? As we talked about these things in the car, an eerie feeling crept over us. "What a bad vibe," "That leaves such a bad aftertaste," we muttered on our way home.

When we got back, the girl who was supposed to have gone home earlier was missing. When I asked someone who lived in her apartment building, she apparently had made it back to her room that night. But then, she vanished without a trace. There were no signs of a struggle or that she had packed up; it just looked like she had casually stepped out for groceries. She still hasn't been found.

I posted a long account earlier in this thread (posts 185–189), but since there’s been a slight new development, I'm posting a follow-up. After posting that series of events, I called one of the guys from that trip (hereafter referred to as A). I wasn't really expecting anything, just doing it out of a sense of closure. Turns out, A actually had some information, which gave me a jolt. I caught myself thinking I should have called him sooner as I listened to his story.

**A's Story** When A ran into the guy who introduced us to that minshuku (hereafter B) through work, they started talking about that large building. It turned out to be a local joint warehouse and community center. However, a new community center had been built, so it fell out of use and was left abandoned for a while—until someone from out of town bought the land along with it. Before anyone realized it, that man had moved in. No one knew what that man did for a living. When A asked B, "How do you know all this?", B said the minshuku landlady had told him when he stayed there. She spoke casually, but warned, "You really shouldn't get too close to that place." Apparently, the man was currently caught up in some kind of trouble with the locals. Even so, B and his friends had gone there around dusk. While there, B saw fish hanging from the warehouse ceiling. It smelled awful. Then, he heard a loud noise coming from the ceiling, so B and his friends panicked and ran outside. That night, they reportedly heard several men shouting and arguing near that building. That's the end of B's story.

One more thing. The girl who went missing back then (hereafter S) has been found. C knows the details about that, so it's better to ask C directly.

**End of A's Story**

The next day, I called C. Since C and S were from the same countryside, they were the closest friends among our group at the time.

**C's Story** One day, about a year after S went missing, I got a call from S's mother. She said she wanted to talk about what happened that day. So, we agreed to meet at a local shop. According to what S's mother told me then, S had actually been found a month after she disappeared. The location was near her parents' hometown (I didn't hear the exact details). However, because her mind had broken, they kept up the story at school and with friends that she was still missing. I was also asked to keep my mouth shut. Why did she disappear? Where was she and what was she doing while she was gone? Even when her parents and doctors asked, she wouldn't answer a single thing. She only muttered a single name, once: "Hisayuki." Because of that, the police checked again to see if anyone connected to the case had a name like that. But nobody did. S is still visiting the hospital, but she seems to have recovered quite a bit. I haven't seen her, but S's mother called me. That's why I figured it was okay to talk about it now. However, whether S doesn't remember that day or simply refuses to talk about it, she never brings it up. Did the police ever ask us about a guy named "Hisayuki"? Or did they? I honestly don't remember.

**End of C's Story**

I don't remember the police ever coming to ask about a guy like that either. I'm glad S is safe, but it still leaves a bad aftertaste. And A's story doesn't quite connect properly, either... Well, consider this an afterthought. I wrote it in a hurry, so it might be hard to follow. Sorry.

*(What appears to be a sighting report of the missing S)*

I saw a woman on the roadside a few years ago Incomprehensible Experiences, Mysterious Tales ~enigma~ Part16 347: Anonymous: 03/08/15 18:45 This might be off-topic (wrong board?), but it's a slightly vague story and I don't know where else to post it. Last night, as usual, I was browsing my favorite exhibitionist-sighting website. The site has a bulletin board where people post about seeing exhibitionists. Things like, "I saw a babe in a see-through swimsuit at ***!" or "A couple is doing it out in the open at OO Park right now, YO!" It's just posts like that, which is why I keep it in my regular browsing rotation. However, there was one post that was a little out of the ordinary: "I saw a completely naked woman on the side of the road a few years ago, and she was eating a dead dog..." It had a link, so please check it out directly for details. ttp://bbs02.nan-net.com/bbs.cgi?num=42 *(Link dead)* ↑ This post was by someone named A-chan.

*A-chan's post ↓* No way! | Poster: A-chan | Date: August 14 (Thu) 15:28:03 It's still a story I can hardly believe, but about five years ago, I went to Atami for fun and was just cruising around in my car at night. Then, I saw a naked woman sitting along a somewhat remote road. "Stop the car, stop the car!" I shouted, and as we pulled over to look, the girl was squatting in an empty lot next to a shop, facing away from us. Completely, stark naked. Thinking *hell yeah*, I rolled down the window. The sound made her turn around—and for some reason, she started running straight at us! She crossed right in front of us and ran into an alley on the other side. For a split second in the headlights, I could see she was dead set, 100% naked. She looked like a pale, slender girl in her early twenties and was actually pretty cute, but the area around her mouth looked kind of black. Thinking, *What is that, makeup or something?*, I didn't feel like chasing after her. So, I went over to the spot where the woman had been squatting. Partly hoping she might have peed or pooped there. And then... What jumped into my view was a dead dog! Its belly and everything had been completely ripped to shreds! I ended up vomiting on the roadside along with my friend. What on earth was that woman doing? Could she have been some kind of feral wolf-girl?

348: Anonymous: 03/08/15 18:49 While thinking about this story and why it bothered me, I remembered a post I picked up on some horror bulletin board about two years ago. It was a post written by a woman who seemed a little mentally unhinged. She talked about being locked away for a long time, which caused her mind to break, and it partially syncs up with the exhibitionism report above. I wondered if it might be the exact same story. It's ridiculously long, but I'll copy and paste it here. Besides, the setting of this story apparently turns out to be Atami. The timing also seems to more or less line up... It creeped me out a bit, so I decided to post it.

★How to realize you're dreaming in a dream★2 Lucid Dreams https://kako.5ch.io//test/read.cgi/occult/1053519901/ 276: Anonymous: 03/08/15 22:53 This is a copy-paste of something I picked up on a bulletin board about two years ago. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Please let me hear your opinions. Posted on: Friday, June 22, 2001, 21:51 | Poster: Dreaming MADOKA [*****.ppp.*****.ne.jp] | Delete This is my first time posting. This story is a truly terrifying experience for me, and because of it, I suffered from mental illness for a long time. Recently, I've finally started to calm down, so I've put my experience into writing. Reading it over, it sounds like an unbelievable story. I'm losing confidence in whether it actually happened, and I find myself thinking that maybe it was all just my delusion. That's why I decided to ask for someone else's opinion. I wrote it in quite a bit of detail, so it's pretty long, but please read it if you're interested. After that, I want you to tell me your opinion on whether I'm crazy or not.

277: Copy-paste 2: 03/08/15 22:57 There was a time in my past when I could see spirits and things like that. Not that I wanted to see them, they appeared regardless of my mood or circumstances, so it was actually quite troublesome. Even walking through town, I would see spirits clinging to people's backs, and at worst, they were so clear that I couldn't tell them apart from normal humans. Some spirits were by themselves, and those were even harder to tell apart. So I would inadvertently get close to them and end up catching strange wavelengths or auras from them. Because of that, my physical health deteriorated for a time. I also wasn't good with socializing. However, after entering university, perhaps because I left my hometown, that condition improved a little bit. Maybe it was because I joined a club, started a band, and gained a little self-confidence, but I started living a fairly sociable daily life.

One day, our club decided to go on a training camp. Though it was called a training camp, we weren't actually going to practice music; it was just an overnight trip to the beach for fun. Since it was my first time going on an overnight trip with friends, I was looking forward to the camp with high spirits. The day of the trip was blessed with great weather, and we set off divided into three cars. Conversations flowed inside the car, creating a fun atmosphere, but halfway through, the background music CD started bothering me. Even though it should have been an album, I felt like the exact same song kept playing over and over. An inorganic synth sound continued endlessly, and I started feeling sick, gradually falling silent. "Are you carsick?" a friend asked. When I mentioned the CD, the person in the passenger seat looked at the deck and said, "It's not even on repeat, you're just imagining things." However, the same song kept repeating just as before, and this time I started feeling kind of scared.

278: Copy-paste 3: 03/08/15 22:59 When we arrived in Atami, we played at the beach for a while. I sat on a bench and stared blankly at the horizon, but I started feeling dizzy, so I went back to the car and dozed off. I must have had a bad dream at that time, though I don't remember it. I had been sleeping with the AC on, but when I woke up, I was drenched in sweat and my whole body felt sluggish. By that time, I was already quite depressed. We had come all this way to have fun with friends, but I felt too sick to enjoy it. That's what I thought at the time. After that, we all headed toward our lodging, a minshuku. I felt progressively sicker, and by then I was staring out the window without saying a word. We parked the car a short walk away and headed to the minshuku. At that moment, my body was enveloped in an indescribable chill. It wasn't a cold or anything like that; it felt like my entire body was wrapped in something freezing, with only the surface turning bizarrely cold. When we reached the front of the minshuku, that sensation had become unbearable. Right next to the building we were staying in was a large shed-like structure, and I felt like something was gazing at us from it. I didn't want to look, but I couldn't help staring intently at the building. Then, someone was watching us from a small window on the second floor. At a quick glance, it looked like a man. Only, his body was emitting a blue light and his outline was blurred. My gut immediately told me this wasn't human. Even though the window was small, I could see his entire body right through the wall surrounding the window frame. The gaze fixed on us gave me an intensely awful feeling. It conveyed the distinct sensation that he was not welcoming our arrival. I had reached my limit. I tried to explain to everyone that this place was dangerous, but they wouldn't listen. They couldn't see it. However, I could no longer stay at this minshuku. I said goodbye to everyone right then and there, and decided to go home by train. Fortunately, there was a station nearby, so the innkeeper drove me there.

279: Copy-paste 4: 03/08/15 23:01 Even on the train, I felt that same gaze. The chill throughout my body persisted just as before. My body was utterly exhausted, and I drifted off to sleep. Then, I seemed to have been having nightmares again, as an old lady sitting next to me shook me awake. The conductor looked worried and asked, "Shall I tell the station staff to contact a hospital when we arrive?" But I wanted to go home as soon as possible, so I turned down his offer. I arrived at the station and took a taxi back to my apartment. When I got to my room, I burned some incense and piled salt by the front door and windows. I had no appetite, and after taking a shower, I collapsed onto my bed and lay down. I was scared to sleep, but my body seemed to crave rest, and I was overwhelmingly sleepy. So, I decided to go to sleep with the lights and TV left on. I remember the dream from that day. I was lying on bed when a chill soaked deep into my body, fitting snugly inside me. It felt like my body had doubled. I could no longer move my body of my own volition. Someone else moved my body and stood up. I turned off the lights and the TV, changed my clothes, and stepped outside the room. It was still pitch black outside. A single man was standing near the apartment. I immediately knew that he was the man who had watched us from the shed next to the minshuku, but now he looked like a normal human, and the blue light was gone. I was terrified out of my mind, but my body just kept walking right behind the man. I could only watch helplessly as it happened.

280: Copy-paste 5: 03/08/15 23:02 After a while, the sky began to brighten. A car stopped in front of us as we walked along the national highway. Inside the car was a man wearing a matching tracksuit. This man also looked like an ordinary human, but I was on the verge of a panic. However, my body climbed into the car as if it were the most natural thing in the world. With me and the man inside, the car drove off. Just as I expected, we arrived at that building. By this time, I had regained a fair amount of freedom over my body, so I used tape to tie both hands...
