I think it was a TV show featuring short, horror-style stories, much like "Tales of the Bizarre." The protagonist is a completely ordinary office worker in her twenties. However, she's recently had a feeling that someone is following her. Right around that time, she checks her answering machine and finds a message with content that suggests the sender knows every single thing she's been doing ("You got yelled at at work today," "Your outfit was cute today," etc.). The stalking behavior only escalates from there. Terrified, she quits her job and moves. Once she finds a new job and settles back into a normal routine, she comes home from work to find a message on her answering machine. She plays it back, and hears the voice saying, "You can never escape from me." It was that same voice. From then on, she lives in fear, just like before. One day, she comes home to find her room covered from wall to wall with photographs of herself. She collapses into a ball in the middle of the room, screaming. The scene changes to a public telephone booth right outside her new apartment. There stands the person who had been using a voice changer to leave messages on her answering machine. He hangs up the receiver and says, "You can never escape from me." (As the camera slowly pulls back...) There stands the protagonist, smiling all by herself. It leaves a really bad aftertaste to imagine that she will just keep repeating this—stalking herself without ever realizing she has a split personality, and scaring herself over and over again. Wasn't the "Tales of the Bizarre" episode "Fantasy Novelist" kind of like that? I don't remember the plot very well... orz
