There was an episode of "Tales of the Bizarre" where a person rides a motorcycle through a tunnel, only to find another tunnel waiting ahead, trapping them in an endless loop. As I recall, it had a rather bittersweet, melancholic feel to it.
That would be "The Mountain Pass Teahouse." Here is the synopsis: The protagonist is an office worker. Exhausted from city life and plagued by a series of mistakes at work, she goes on a motorcycle trip to clear her head. As she rides through lush, green roads, she begins to feel healed. She decides to take a break at a teahouse located along a mountain pass. When she compliments the surrounding scenery, the owner strangely looks terrified. "I wish I could live in a place like this forever," she says casually. With a look of resignation, the owner urges her to get down the mountain immediately. She resumes riding and keeps going, but no matter what she does, she always ends up back at the same teahouse. The owner explains that because the wood spirits heard her previous remark, she has been bewitched. The owner's own lower body has already transformed into tree roots. The protagonist is told how to escape this loop. She is warned to desperately descend through the woods behind the teahouse, but if she encounters those who were completely captivated by the wood spirits and turned into wooden people, and looks back as she flees, she will never be able to return. She successfully breaks out onto a main road and hitchhikes a passing truck bound for Tokyo. Overjoyed when the driver tells her that Tokyo is finally in sight, she looks at the distant view of the metropolis and is struck dumb with horror. Tokyo, too, had already sunk beneath a vast forest.
