This is one of the stories from the manga "Monkey People." The protagonist is a new salaryman who graduated from the University of Tokyo, and from the very beginning, he was full of confidence, enthusiastic that "my future is bright and full of promise." However, his boss seems to have an inferiority complex about educational background, bringing it up at every turn and treating the protagonist harshly. The boss pushes all sorts of work onto the protagonist, saying, "Let the Tokyo University graduate do it," and when the protagonist fails, the boss picks on him, saying, "You're a Tokyo University graduate, and you can't even do this?" After days of such harassment, the protagonist's physical condition rapidly deteriorates to the point where he even coughs up blood. The diagnosis is "terminal stomach cancer," with "very little time left to live." Even so, the protagonist continues to work while hiding his illness. Eventually, seeming to take pity on the protagonist's condition, the boss speaks to him kindly, cares for him, and takes him outside. The protagonist is moved inside, thinking, "Even a boss like this has a good side!" But once they reach a secluded spot, the boss suddenly changes his attitude, makes sarcastic remarks like, "It's just feigned illness anyway," and abandons the protagonist on the street. Finally, the protagonist's patience wears out, and in a fit of intense rage, he kills the boss. "Are Tokyo University graduates supposed to know everything and be able to do anything...?" he mutters in tears before passing out and collapsing. When he wakes up, he has been rushed to the hospital, and his regular doctor tells him, "Your terminal stomach cancer has miraculously been cured." His mother, who has rushed to his side, cries tears of joy. Over his mother's shoulder, outside the window, the figures of police officers can be seen. "My future was bright and full of promise..." The protagonist lets out a dry smile. The end.
