The Short Drama Based on Shinichi Hoshi's Work

Reminds me of "Tales of the Unusual." It was a short drama based on a short story by Shinichi Hoshi that aired last year or this year. It might have been posted before, but here it goes.

A dead-end man dreams of making it big and boards a spaceship to work off-world. However, the ship crashes on an uncharted planet, forcing him to survive there. The only other survivor is a beautiful but selfish woman.

Day after day, the man explores the planet and brings back whatever little food he can find to the woman. Yet, the selfish woman never thanks him and only complains.

One day, the woman says: "Being stuck on a planet like this with an old man like you... I wish there was a young, handsome man instead."

Hurt, the man replies, "I'll go explore even further today," and sets off with a laser gun for self-defense. As he walks, he mutters to himself in frustration: "I’ve devoted myself to her so much... It’s about time she started liking me..."

Just then, a space rescue team appears. They were searching for survivors of the crashed ship. The rescue team members are all young, handsome men. The man says, "There is another survivor," and guides them along.

The place the man leads the rescue team to is a sheer cliff. Confused, the rescue team hesitates. The man uses his laser gun to kill them all and throws their bodies down the cliff.

Glancing over, he notices a single, unfamiliar flower blooming there. The man brings the flower back and gives it to the woman as a gift. For the first time in front of the man, the woman breaks into a happy smile. Gazing at that smile, the man says: "I will keep protecting you from now on. No matter what appears..."
