The Yamada Festival

One of the ultra-short prologue stories lasting only about a minute, but boasting high popularity due to its strong impact.

One morning. Mr. Yamada, a very ordinary office worker, is about to leave for work when he happens to look at the calendar by the front door and notices that today's date has "Yamada Festival" written on it. Finding it strange that there is an unfamiliar event bearing his own name, Mr. Yamada thinks nothing of it and opens the door to go to work. However, a huge crowd of people has gathered right outside his entrance. Upon seeing Mr. Yamada, the people let out cheers, and a mass chant of "Yamada! Yamada!" begins. Though initially bewildered, Mr. Yamada realizes that this must be the Yamada Festival. Surely today is a day to celebrate all the Yamadas across the country! "It's me! I'm Mr. Yamada!" "Yamada! You're cool! Yamada! I love you! Yamada! You smell so good!" Getting carried away and shouting such things, Mr. Yamada is carried into the middle of the crowd. Just as he thinks they are about to toss him in the air, the people suddenly surround Mr. Yamada and begin beating him to a pulp all at once. Even as Mr. Yamada's clothes are torn and he starts bleeding, the frenzy does not stop at all. And the chant of "Yamada! Yamada!" continues to ring out. Here, the camera pans back to the calendar by the front door. Looking closely at the words "Yamada Festival," you realize that some tiny, dot-like characters were hidden within, reading "Yamada - Festival." And as the camera gradually zooms in on those characters...
