An episode called "The Life Line" from the manga "Boku ga Shinu Dake no Hyaku Monogatari" (A Hundred Tales of Me Just Dying). The protagonist, a young man, has a distinctively short life line on his palm. Through this, he meets a woman who also has a short life line. "If it's like this, whoever dies first won't have to feel lonely," "Yeah." Because of this, the two fall deeply in love, get married, and have a cute daughter. However, the daughter's palm has absolutely no life line at all. "Does this mean the three of us are going to die at the same time?" The protagonist and his wife fall into paranoia and their mental health deteriorates. After several days of unexcused absences from work, they eventually begin to terrified that "our house might be set on fire." Just then, the protagonist's boss, worried about him, comes to visit his house. Overcome with the fear of "We're going to be killed!", the protagonist thinks, "I know! If I just make my life line longer, it'll be fine!", and grabs a blade. He slashes open the palm of his own hand, cutting deeply all the way down to his wrist. He does the same to his reluctant wife's hand. Furthermore, brushing off his wife's attempts to stop him, he cuts open the hand of his beloved daughter as well. When the suspicious boss enters the house, the protagonist's family has passed away from massive blood loss, still huddled close together.
